WTA Indian Wells Day 6 predictions including Krejcikova vs. Anisimova

Day 6 of the 2021 WTA Indian Wells Masters will feature the remaining matches from the third round. Ons Jabeur takes on Danielle Collins in what could be an underrated blockbuster, while Barbora Krejcikova might not have it easy against the always dangerous Amanda Anisimova. Who do you think will advance? We also plan the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article.

WTA Indian Wells Predictions Day 6

Anna Kalinskaya vs. Viktorija Golubic

Face-to-face: Golubic 2-0

Viktorija Golubic won this one in Monterrey earlier in the season, when she was racking up the victories like tomorrow. She does appear to be back in Indian Wells, however, taking out Marketa Vondrousova and Maria Sakkari in straight-set battles. Anna Kalinskaya was coming from qualifying but played one of the games of her life to eliminate Sara Sorribes Tormo. However, she seems much less likely to repeat that kind of performance than Golubic, who is a much more experienced client at this point in big events.
Prediction: Golubic in 3

Ons Jabeur vs. Danielle Collins

Face-to-face: Collins 1-0

This could be the underrated gem of the tour. Conditions at Indian Wells are probably a bit better suited for Danielle Collins as she hits hard enough to cross the court and play her game. Ons Jabeur’s timing excels with a slightly lower rebound and faster surface, but the Tunisian has been so excellent this year that she has essentially managed to be successful in every game setting imaginable. Can the crowd give Collins a boost? Maybe because the American is very dependent on her energy.

Karolina Pliskova vs. Beatriz Haddad Maia

Face-to-face: Pliskova 1-0

Karolina Pliskova has had some very impressive results recently, although she lacks a little extra oomph with a title. Her second round match against Magdalena Frech started off shaky, but once the Czech picked up her pace the game was over. Beatriz Haddad Maia is coming off a doping suspension and although she has dominated the ITF Tour, she has yet to have a huge impact on the main tour. She should however improve her performance at the 2018 Australian Open against Pliskova (1-6 1-6 loss).
Prediction: Pliskova in 2

Barbora Krejcikova vs. Amanda Anisimova

Face-to-face: First meeting

It might be the experience of winning such doubles titles, but Barbora Krejcikova managed to avoid the typical hangover of the first Grand Slam. The Czech still plays high-quality tennis, although her second round victory over Zarina Diyas seemed sloppy at times. Amanda Anisimova is such a talented prospect, but her slight one-dimensionality and mental issues seem to keep her from truly excelling. Summits are rare, but her victory over Camila Giorgi reminded us why she was so excited a few years ago. It may be a recency bias, but if she can repeat that here then she could produce the upheaval, taking advantage of the conditions that will cause some of Krejcikova’s bullets to straighten up just for her to attack.
Prediction: Anisimova in 3
