Watch how the England pitch invader is tackled by security after joining the squad for the Six Nations clash against Ireland

A pitch invader was tackled to the ground by security after joining the England outfit for their Six Nations clash with Ireland.

The fan managed to escape the safety of Twickenham and fight their way alongside Eddie Jones’ men as the national anthem sounded.

But just seconds after coming alongside Tom Curry, he found himself struggling with robust security on the pitch.

The cheeky fan – who was dressed in full kit – was quickly removed from the pitch.

And it is likely that he was detained before being handed over to the police present at the match.

Spectators at the match couldn’t quite believe their eyes, with one saying, “Great tackle! Was that the TV guy’s assistant?”

What are the red card rules in rugby and what is a sin bin?

Another said: ‘Good to see this attention-seeking pitch invader getting completely crushed.’

And another said: “We all saw the pitch invader get flattened by security next to Tom Curry right??!

One remarked: “He was skimmed.

“If you watch the England team, they can see them watching him get wiped out.”

England got off to a nightmarish start with the sending off of Charlie Ewels 82 seconds in the match for a reckless challenge on James Ryan.

His dismissal was the fastest in Six Nations history.

Irishman James Lowe added to the home side’s misery moments later, crossing the line to give the visitors an 8-0 lead.

But Jones’ men got a foothold in the game 11 minutes later after a penalty successfully converted by Marcus Smith.

Smith doubled his and England’s tally for the day with another penalty in the 32nd minute.

Ireland, however, struck again with another try five minutes later, with Hugo Keenan over the top.

But Smith kept Jones’ men within easy reach of the visitors with another penalty in first-half stoppage time.
