Venus played doubles at six French Open. Her partner has always been Serena Williams, however, for the first time, she will have Coco Gauff as a partner. Venus is a 40-year-old veteran while Gauff is the teenage sensation everyone is talking about.

How old was Coco Gauff when Serena and Venus Williams won the Roland Garros doubles title?

Interestingly, when Serena and Venus won their first Roland Garros doubles title in 1999, Gauff wasn’t even born. And when they won their second Roland Garros title in 2010, Gauff was only six years old. The young star came a long way on the tour at a relatively young age.

In the draw, Venus Williams and Coco Gauff are together to face 13th seeds Ellen Perez and Zheng Saisai. Other notable players in the doubles draw are Iga Swiatek, Ashleigh Barty, Jennifer Brady, Sofia Kenin, and more.

With their age, Venus and Gauff are the opposite of their careers. Gauff is a young talent who has steadily climbed the ranks as Venus has seen decline and is currently outside the top 100. Venus is currently on a five-game losing streak and has not won on clay since two years.

Gauff recently won her second career title at the 2021 WTA Parma Open. She also showed her great clay court prowess at the Italian Open where she reached the semi-finals.

The handover from Venus to Gauff could have happened when the two met at Wimbledon 2019. Gauff was playing his first Grand Slam match and beat Venus in straight sets. Additionally, they met at the 2020 Australian Open, where Gauff again triumphed. It will surely be a sight to see the Americans fighting side by side, thus having the perfect blend of experience and youth.
