Christchurch [New Zealand], January 10 (ANI): New Zealand race leader Trent Boult reached the 300 test wicket mark on Monday.
The left arm crimper achieved the feat on Day 2 of the second test underway against Bangladesh here at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
Boult is the fourth BlackCaps cricketer to pass the 300 wicket test and he raised the milestone in his 75th test.
Previously, Sir Richard Hadlee, Daniel Vettori and Tim Southee had registered 300 test wickets.
On the second day of the current test, Boult scalped the wickets of Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan.
The left arm crimper fired Mehidy to bring in his 300th wicket in Test cricket.
Earlier, resuming Day 2 at 349/1, Devon Conway spoke of his century but after a blow of 109 he was sent back to the lodge via a run-out. The wickets continued to fall, but skipper Tom Latham stood firm on one end.
Latham then made a remarkable 252-run stroke with just 373 balls with the help of 34 fours and 2 sixes. Goalkeeper-batsman Tom Blundell also contributed with an unbeaten stroke of 57 as New Zealand ultimately declared their innings at 521/6. (ANI)
