The statue of Princess Diana brutally reviewed by the Australian host “Like a horror show!” | Royal | New
Sky News Australia host Rowan Dean seemed almost offended by the newly unveiled Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace as he delivered his honest assessment of the monument. Mr Dean called the statue, unveiled by Prince Harry and William, a “horror show” and said the statue looked nothing like Diana. Other hosts James Morrow and Rita Panahi agreed and also piled onto the statue with their scathing comments.
Speaking on Sky News Australia, Mr Dean addressed the new statue of Princess Diana at Kensington Palace, but was not impressed with the work.
He told the program: “As someone who had the pleasure of dancing with Princess Diana.
“Let me just say the statue is a horror sight… let’s take a look at this horrible thing, what is it?” “
Mr Morrow then shared his thoughts and said: “IIt sounds like something Bart Simpson would have done in a community college art class, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.
“It’s like the statue of Teddy Roosevelt in the National History Museum that was canceled for doing the exact same thing she did.”
Mr Morrow referred to the statue of Teddy Roosevelt which was removed from the American Museum of Natural History for “racist” images.
The statue sees Mr. Roosevelt on horseback and flanked under him by an African and Native American man.
Mr. Morrow appeared to oddly tie the two statues as Diana towers over the children.
Gardeners spent over a thousand hours redesigning the gardens for the statue where Diana’s favorite flowers were planted throughout the park.
Prince Harry quickly returned to the United States after the unveiling, as hopes of reconciliation between him and William seemed not to materialize.
Ian Rank-Broadley, who designed the statue, said he hoped the statue’s “physical” existence could provide the princes with a quiet place to “think”.
He added that their contribution to the statue made it “as much theirs as mine”, as the royal brothers jointly commissioned the piece several years ago.
