Saints Derek Hardman joins England women’s coaching team
CHALLENGE Cup-winning Saints’ women’s head coach Derek Hardman has joined the England women’s coaching squad as assistant coach ahead of the National Lottery mid-season international. next week against Wales.
Hardman will join former England international Lindsay Anfield – the head coach he faced in this year’s Challenge Cup final – as assistant coach while Adam Cuthbertson leaves the program to focus on his commitments as a player with the York City Knights.
Upon the appointment, Hardman said: âI am extremely honored to have offered myself the role of England women’s assistant coach.
“I have been involved in the organization for a few months and am now delighted to have joined the team in an official capacity ahead of the mid-season game against Wales and the Rugby Union World Cup later this year.”
England women’s head coach Craig Richards added: âDec will be a great addition to the squad ahead of a huge year for the England women.
“He has extensive experience and a real eye for detail, which is essential to ensure the team continues to develop ahead of the Rugby Union World Cup.”
Cuthbertson joined the England women’s squad ahead of the 2019 Papua New Guinea tour after leading the Leeds Rhinos to a Super League title, League Leaders’ Shield and two Challenge Cups.
