Richards hopes for another test for women in England – TotalRL.com | Rugby League Express

England women’s coach Craig Richards is aiming to secure another game for his side ahead of the World Cup, which is set to take place in November.
A 60-0 win over Wales on Friday night provided plenty of positives for Richards, who know that more playing time together as a team will only boost his side’s chances in the tournament.
“What Friday’s game showed is that we need another blow to get us into the World Cup,” said Richards, after overseeing the country’s first international game in addition to 16 month.
“Having another game by then is definitely on my wishlist, but I don’t know where we’re at with that.
âWe need another game and if we can’t organize another, we’ll probably go down the path of a possible v likely within the team. Something like that could be the vehicle to use to get us the next device we need.
âWhen we go up against the big guns in the World Cup, we’re going to need patience, and it wasn’t there on Friday. But when you haven’t played country for almost two years and then come back to a field wanting to impress, the patience is probably going out the window. This is something we need to review.
âIn terms of fitness we think we’re getting there and we’re on our way to achieving what we need to be, the biggest challenge now will be getting the intensity and getting those tough matches going. until the end because that’s what the World Cup will be.
Outside of the World Cup, Richards would like to see the test against fledgling Wales become a regular fixture on his international calendar.
“I was really impressed with Wales, but with a great coach in Tom Brindle, I knew it would be a big challenge for us,” added Richards.
âBoth teams seemed nervous at the start and then we got a real foothold in the game but a huge credit in Wales.
âThe distance covered in such a short time is fantastic. This game is needed again next year and the following year. They will go stronger and stronger, and that will be good for us too. “
