Nick Kyrgios’ ‘Tennis-Inspired’ Tesla Will Make Your Eyes Hurt

Subtlety is not really in Nick Kyrgios’ vocabulary.

The 27-year-old tennis champion, who made headlines around the world for his winning doubles performance (and bringing Cristiano Ronaldo’s “siuuu” chant to the sweltering world of tennis) at the Australian Open more early this year, is brash, bold and not afraid of attention.

So it’s probably no surprise that a guy who cuts his hair to look like a fucking tennis ball is inspired by his favorite sport when it comes to his car. Last weekend, King Kyrgios turned heads when he arrived for a charity basketball game at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena in a bright green Tesla Model X.

We honestly couldn’t think of a more Kyrgios car. Butterfly-wing shaped doors, a firm stance and, most importantly, a striking envelope reminiscent of the Astroturf? It hurts the eyes but we love it.

Kyrgios is actually quite pissed off. According to Canberra timeBoth Nick and his older brother Christos were “car enthusiasts” growing up and dreamed of one day owning a collection of powerful, muscular sports cars.

Other cars in Nick’s collection include a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – one of Australia’s only Demons, in fact – as well as an R35 Nissan GT-R. It’s interesting that he goes from something as gas-hungry as a Dodge Demon to a Tesla. We respect it.

Kyrgios was last in action at the Houston Open in April where he lost in the semifinals to American Reilly Opelka. He would have taken time off to rest and recuperate at home Down Under ahead of the French Open at the end of May.
