New England boys impress as Leicester Tigers exorcise demons in Wasps win
At the start of the final quarter, Henry was doomed after inadvertently returning Watson in a tackle. The wasps smelled of blood but Kini Murimurivalu, instead of Nadolo, dove to fly in the shadow of his own posts. Before Leicester was reduced to 15 men, Steward hacked a loose ball and Matias Moroni’s tackle on Jimmy Gopperth allowed for a five-yard scrum. A penalty followed and Tomas Lavanini scored from close range.
The Wasps remained expansive and made a pitch in the final exchanges. This position on the pitch allowed Umaga to recover a second bonus point with a penalty. Borthwick and his team had done enough, however. And, as Eddie Jones suggested, a strong Leicester would bode well for England.
