Kiwi actor Antony Starr has been arrested and given a 12-month suspended prison sentence after he drunkenly assaulted a young chef in Spain.
The 46-year-old actor, who plays an evil superhero in Amazon’s The Boys, was convicted this week after a speedy trial in an Alicante city court, the Daily Mail reported.
Starr was convicted of felony bodily injury after the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning local time.
Police and emergency services have been called to a pub in Alicante after a reported disturbance.
A 21-year-old chef at the scene reportedly told officers he was punched twice by the actor and a glass was smashed in his face.
The victim was taken to hospital and received four stitches just above the eye, the publication reported.
It is understood that Starr is in Spain filming a new Guy Ritchie movie.
In court, the actor was told he would only escape jail time if he paid his young victim £4,000 ($7,855) within three days.
A court official told the newspaper: “The inmate’s drunkenness was taken into account as a mitigating factor.
“The conviction is the result of an agreement between the state prosecution and the man who was subsequently convicted.”
The victim told local media that after Starr punched him, he felt dizzy and that’s when the actor hit him with a drink.
It is also alleged that the New Zealand-born actor later yelled at her, “You don’t know who you played with. You don’t know who I am and what you did.”
In addition to his role on The Boys, Starr is widely known for his acting roles as twins Van and Jethro West in local drama Outrageous Fortune.
