The Jamaica Rugby League Association has named its 21-man squad for its senior men’s rugby union team, the Reggae Warriors, which will face the England Knights at Castleford’s Mend-A-Hose Jungle in Yorkshire, England on Friday at 7:45 p.m. (1:45 p.m. Jamaica time).

The team was selected by Head Coach Romeo Monteith and Head Coach Jermaine Coleman.

The match will also be played as a testimonial for Reggae Warrior and Tiger Jordan Turner. Turner is one of three Super League players named, the others being Huddersfield duo Ashton Golding and Michael Lawrence, with Halifax’s James Woodburn-Hall, who has recovered from a hamstring injury sustained during the championship qualifiers.

York City Knights aviator Ben Jones-Bishop is included, along with Sheffield Eagles brothers Izaak and Joel Farrell and former Jamaican national player Abevia McDonald, who played for Liguanea Dragons and Excelsior Community College, and is now plying her trade. at London Skolars.

“We want to continue our preparation for the World Cup and this game gives us a great opportunity to test ourselves against a very good team,” said Monteith. “We’re going to see new faces and try new combinations. It will be a tough clash and hopefully we will prepare for next week’s full international against Scotland at Featherstone.

“We have several players missing due to injuries at the end of the English season and sport has yet to pick up on the island, but it has opened the door for others to make an impact. We hope the fans will come and support Jordan. I am sure they will see an exciting game.

The Reggae Warriors are ranked 20th in the world and have beaten Canada and the United States to become the first Caribbean nation to qualify for a Rugby Union World Cup.
