Returning to Roland Garros after reaching the semi-final in 2019, Roger Federer faced Denis Istomin in the first round in June. It was only the Swiss legend’s fourth game after last year’s Australian Open, and he looked good on the pitch against Denis Istomin in a 6-2, 6-4 win. , 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.

Fighting in his first major game in nearly 500 days, Roger delivered lively and aggressive tennis from start to finish, dictating the trade with 48 winners and 20 unforced errors and doing his best to outrun the Uzbek. Istomin never gave his punches and did nothing on the return, facing 13 break opportunities and missing five serve to propel Federer to the top and to his fourth win of the season.

Roger was happy with the way he fought, said he did everything as planned and felt good with his moves and groundstrokes. Federer had a huge advantage in the shorter rally up to four strokes and overpowered Istomin in the longer ones to sprint to the finish line and organize the second round clash with Marin Cilic.

Federer barely lost a point on serve in the first and got two breaks to lead 6-2. Istomin was still helpless coming back from the second set, suffered an early break and allowed Roger to win 6-4 and move closer to the finish line.

Federer produced four comfortable rounds of service in the third set and shattered games five and nine to pass and celebrate the 363rd major victory, his first since the 2020 Australian Open quarter-finals.

Medvedev reflects on Roger Federer

World number 2 Daniil Medvedev recently became the 2021 US Open champion.

He won his first Grand Slam title after beating world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the final. With this victory, he also prevented the Serbian legend from making his Calendar Slam in New York. Even though Daniil Medvedev called Novak Djokovic the best player of all time, he has already claimed that Roger Federer is his toughest opponent.

However, there was a time when he hated the Swiss maestro as a child. “I hated Roger. I just couldn’t see him win again. I cheered on the other guys from the first round because that’s how I was, ”Medvedev said in this interview. After a successful campaign at the 2021 US Open, Medvedev will now play in the 2021 Laver Cup.
