Melbourne [Australia], June 14 (ANI): Australia skipper Tim Paine said on Monday that England were not at their best in the series against New Zealand and that the team led by Joe Root will be different in the Ashes this year.
England lost the two-match test series to New Zealand 0-1 after suffering a loss to the Kiwis in the second test by eight wickets at Edgbaston.
âNew Zealand are a good team. And secondly, I think if we’re realistic it’s a really different team that England put on the pitch from what we’re probably going to see in the Ashes. things in perspective, that was certainly the case “The strongest team in England,” Paine said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
âWe know when they come here they’re going to have Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, they’re probably going to play a spinner, and a few other guys especially the all-rounders who really make their squad go both ways. We know England are a better team than what they put in place, so we’re going to take a little bit but not read too much at the same time, “he added.
Speaking of the series review that took place after the loss to India, Paine said, âWe are all 100 percent behind Justin Langer and the work he does. We had a review of team at the end of the Indian series, which is a pretty common factor in professional sport. From Justin to our last player, everyone will have feedback that they can improve on. “
âWe’ll be going to the Gold Coast in a few weeks to dig a little deeper into that⦠we’re trying to create an environment to give people feedback. We obviously didn’t play as well as we (would have) liked against India and we all want to improve, from Justin down, âhe added.
Earlier it was reported that some of the players on the Australian squad were not happy with Langer’s coaching style and it was rumored that Cricket Australia would have a word with the head coach. Australia will then face the West Indies in three ODIs and five T20Is. (ANI)
