Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková added the Australian Open women’s doubles title to their collection, with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4 win over Anna Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Key points:

  • Krejčíková and Siniaková were the doubles seeds
  • They dropped the first set before bouncing back to win
  • This is their fourth major doubles title together

The number one seeds – who were beaten in the final at Melbourne Park last year – took time to find their groove and were forced to come back from a set down to claim the championship for the first time.

Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia outplayed the Olympic champions in a tie-break to win the first set.

But the scores leveled at the end of the second set, as the Czech pair found their rhythm.

Krejčíková and Siniaková broke Haddad Maia’s serve five games into the deciding set to take the lead.

Siniaková’s forehand winner on Danilina’s service line two plays later widened the gap.

Danilina’s volley at the net earned a break that suspended their opponents’ celebrations, but Krejčíková held serve to close the match.

The victory is the Czech duo’s fourth major singles title together, having won the French Open in 2018 and 2021, and Wimbledon in 2018.

It’s also another major title for Krejčíková, who won the French Open singles championship last year.

Krejčíková reached the quarter-finals of the singles draw at Melbourne Park as the fourth seed.
