COVID Updates: Rapid Antigen Tests ‘to Play Growing Role in Testing for COVID-19’ in Australia – As Happened
Here is the full statement on the health department’s North New South Wales lockdown
From NSW Health:
To protect residents of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for the local government areas of Byron Shire, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Ballina Shire, starting at 6 p.m. today until 12:01 am Tuesday August 17th.
Following updated health advice from NSW’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Kerry Chant, stay-at-home orders will apply to all people who live in or were there on or after July 31.
The rules for these areas will be the same as those already in place in Greater Sydney, as well as Tamworth, Armidale, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Singleton, Dungog, Muswellbrook and Cessnock.
Everyone in these areas should stay at home unless they have a reasonable excuse to leave. They also cannot have visitors to their homes from outside their homes, including family and friends.
People can still have one visitor at a time to fulfill caregiver responsibilities or provide care or assistance, or for compassionate reasons, including when two people are in a relationship but not living together.
People also cannot enter the local government areas of Byron Shire, Richmond Valley, Lismore, and Ballina Shire without a reasonable excuse to do so.
We understand that this is a difficult time for the community and appreciate their continued patience and cooperation.
We ask people not to ask for exceptions to the rules, but to make sure they follow them so that we don’t see more cases of COVID-19 in the community.
