Covid-19 update: 16 new community cases reported in New Zealand today
According to the Department of Health, 16 community cases of Covid-19 have been reported in New Zealand today.
In a statement, the ministry said 13 of today’s 16 cases were epidemiologically linked to previous cases.
There have been 10 unrelated cases in the past fifteen weeks.
There is also a historical community case not associated with the current epidemic and another historical case at the border.
The ministry said the community-based case considered historic was not associated with the current outbreak in Auckland, as this case initially crossed the border and was previously reported and spent 14 days in managed isolation, during which they were regularly tested negative.
“They subsequently tested positive, but this was considered historic and is no longer infectious.”
There are 13 people hospitalized with Covid-19, including four in intensive care.
The ministry said 903 of Auckland’s 1,129 cases in that outbreak have now recovered.
