Candice Warner lands a new gig
Ironwomen and Australian cricket wife Candice Warner will be heard across Sydney in their new gig from this Saturday.
Ironwomen Candice Warner, who is married to Australian cricket star David Warner, has a new gig that’s all about sports.
Candice will join Triple M on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. as part of its revamp Dead legends program in Sydney.
She will be joined by Dan Ginnane, who has been with the station since 2002, and Richard Freedman, a name synonymous with Australian horse racing.
In a statement, Candice said she was thrilled to take on the role.
“What better way to kick off 2022 than as part of the famous Dead legends crew with Dan Ginnane and Richard Freedman. I can’t wait to get started,” she said.
Speaking of Candice, Triple M Sydney Content Director Rex Morris said: “Joining the team is someone who has impressed in every appearance on Triple M, and we are so thrilled to have a permanent place. in our line-up for Candice Warner.
“The boys are in the presence of an ironwoman in every way.”
The Warners’ start to the year so far has involved an expensive celebration with a boat cruise around Sydney Harbor enjoying another Ashes victory.
It came just a month after Candice opened up about the struggles of being married to someone who spends so many days a year away from home.
Candice said she and David, who have three young daughters, have only spent the equivalent of three months together in the past 14 months and said the closures have taken their toll.
During the last two months of the year, Candice also spoke about the problems plaguing Australian cricket.
Candice has spoken out criticizing her husband’s continued banning from leadership positions, saying all the actors involved in the sandpaper scandal have “served their time”.
As punishment for their role in the 2018 South African ball-tampering scandal, Steve Smith was banned from holding a managerial position for two years and Warner was banned for the rest of his career. In December, Smith became vice-captain of Australian Tests.
She also weighed in on the Tim Paine sexting scandal.
Paine has resigned as Australia’s cricket captain after a series of lewd texts between him and a former Cricket Tasmania staff member from 2017 surfaced.
The wicketkeeper was investigated by Cricket Australia who cleared him of any offence, but questions have been raised over the governing body.
Candice said she felt uncomfortable with how CA held Paine at a different level of responsibility than when he was just a player.
“I read an opinion piece by Jessica Halloran today in the Australian and she had a very valid point which made me think… they were basically saying it’s not right for an Australian captain to sending these messages but it’s OK for an Australian gamer,” Warner told 2GB radio.
“As the wife of an Australian player, it’s a little worrying and it worries me.”
