Starting tomorrow, Melburnians will be able to gather for picnics, but a major condition for the new freedom has been exposed and it will certainly leave many residents less than impressed.

Under the relaxed restrictions that take effect at 11:59 p.m. tonight, fully immunized residents will be able to gather outdoors in groups of five adults from two households for recreation.

Unvaccinated people can get together in groups of two.

But residents who plan to have a well-watered picnic with friends, or even just a glass of wine, are going to be very disappointed.

When asked the australian Whether the ban on removing masks to consume alcohol outdoors would remain in place, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews said he was not sure but would seek clarification.

“I can understand that people will be very keen to have an answer on this, and I will give you one around drinking alcohol and taking off a mask during said outdoor activities that we just did. announce, whether it’s picnics or otherwise, “he said at Thursday’s press conference.

Later that afternoon, his officer confirmed to the publication that the ban, which was introduced in August following an illegal pub crawl, would be upheld.

However, some fear that many will choose to flout restrictions on new freedoms, after Mr Andrew said police would not patrol “every park” to check that everyone was playing by the rules.
